Losing weight after the age of 40 is not easy, as this is the stage when most women enter into menopause. Menopause is basically a hormonal change in your body, which reduces the metabolic rate. As a result the fat gets stored and leads to several obesity related diseases. The best way to lose weight and maintain your appearance is to select a solution that can be easily implemented in your daily schedule. 

Food and exercise are the two vital elements of any weight loss program. This is the reason that you must always select food that can keep your blood sugar under control. You must also limit the quantity of food that you consume, try to take food in small quantity on regular intervals. 

Carbohydrates provides energy, so try to consume more of it in during lunch, as your body needs more energy during day rather than night. Try avoiding tempt food stuff and replace them with some health snacks like low fat cheese squares, green salads or a bowl of fruit.
Your effort to lose weight based on food intake alone can never be successful, until you combine it with appropriate exercise. You need to find the perfect exercise depending on your weight. 

Since exercise burns the fat in your body, you can take the help of a physician, who can suggest some exercise for you.  In case you are beginner, you must always start with light exercise, for a small time duration, which can be slowly increased later. Jogging, swimming and walking are the best exercise in the beginning. 

Later you can also do some aerobics, yoga and weight training exercises under the supervision of a trained expert. Regular exercise and healthy food habit will help you lose pounds and make you feel health, active and happy than before.
