Planning for Your Kitchen Remodelling Project

If you are planning to have your kitchen remodelled, then first of all you need to identify the things which need to be renovated. In case you had an old-fashioned kitchen, now you should be thinking of converting it into a modular one. This will enhance the usability of your kitchen and provide you much more convenience and comfort to work.
To start with, you should decide about the size of your kitchen. If space is the main problem, then you can think of expanding the kitchen to a bigger size. For that you need to knock down a wall on the side, where you can arrange some extra space. An open kitchen can also be a good idea, as it offers more air and more working space. But if you just want to increase the space in your existing setup, then you have to take away some extra cupboard or shelves, which are standing on the floor. If you have an eat-in kitchen, then you can make use of some other space in your house as the dining area. You can also add more storage to organize things. The modular kitchen concept can be applied to create numerous storing options and to make the floor area absolutely free.
Secondly, you may need more working space on the countertop, which means you have to extend the countertop. Other than permanently building up the extended countertop portion, you can use small tables to keep beside the countertop and to declutter things from the countertop on it. In case you have wooden countertop, then it might get worn out. In this situation, you have to decide for stone or ceramic options for complete renovation.
Additionally, you may need to think on the lighting system of your kitchen. A dark and gloomy kitchen does not look inviting at all. Even you will not feel like working in this gloomy setup. So, you may better think of installing lights in various levels of brightness and spotlights for the cooking or washing area.
Finally you should think of upgrading your old appliances to new ones or adding something totally new to your kitchen. You will get a bunch of kitchen gadgets which can improve your efficiency and are more convenient to use. Depending on your requirement, you may think of buying these items.

Caring Tips for Your Wooden Furniture

Regular Dusting is Most Important Care
Wooden furniture pieces are the most sophisticated possession of every household. Though nowadays you get a whole lot of plastic or metal furniture, but you cannot compare these with the sophistication of wood. Whether it is simple or intricately designed, it simply changes the ambiance of the room. If you can take regular care of these furniture pieces, these are going to be with you forever and eventually these are going to be the things to cherish. Here are few simple caring tips for your wooden furniture so that they get a longer life than usual.

  • Regular dusting is most important for wooden furniture items. If you neglect this part, then the dust is going to settle down on the wooden surface along with the moisture or humidity of the air and together it will become difficult to clear off. Simply use a soft cotton cloth to clear out the dust and dirt particles from the surface area in a daily basis. If you are staying in a congested and polluted environment, then you need to dust off probably twice a day. Otherwise, you may keep the windows shut down as much as possible to get rid of the dust, dirt and pollution.
  • As a monthly routine, you may use the wood cleaner sprays to wipe off the furniture. This will also bring back the lost glow and shine of your wooden furniture. But there are certain wood cleaners, which may affect the finishing of the furniture and consistent use of these cleaners might as well take away the glow. So, when you buy these cleaners make sure that these products are meant for total wood care and not to damage the polish.
  • Wooden furniture pieces are susceptible to chipping or cracking, in case stricken or hit by something heavy. Sometimes children of the household might also damage the surface by making small holes or scratching the surface. These are quite normal with wooden furniture. But you should not neglect these. Immediately you should contact the professional for taking care of this problem. Otherwise, these might become too critical to treat in later days.

How to Maintain Your Carpets and Rugs

Change the look of your soiled carpet
It is very critical to keep the carpets or the rugs at your home in almost new-like condition, particularly if you have kids at your home. Somehow or other, they are going to spill either food or colors and your favourite carpet is going to get stained forever. So, it is always suggested that if you have kids at home, you should better go for inexpensive carpets and rugs, which you can throw away or exchange after using couple of years. But not only the kids, staining of the carpets can also be unintentionally done by the adults. So you have to find out a routine carpet cleaning schedule to maintain the color and finish for longer period of time.

Make sure that you vacuum the carpet or rugs at least once in a week. You will get much better result, if you can do it twice or thrice in a week. But it may not be possible, in case you are working. Use a good carpet cleaning powder to sprinkle all over, before you start the vacuum machine. Thoroughly vacuum the carpet to remove all the dust, dirt and sand particles. Once you are done, you will get back the lovely soft and silky feel of the carpet. On top of this, you will require professional cleaning of the rugs and carpets at least once a year to maintain the sheer shine and lustrous.

But getting the carpets regularly cleaned does not ensure that it is going to remain stain-free. Stains can occur at any time in various ways, but the sooner you pick it off the better the result. You should keep different types of stain removers handy, so that you can use it when necessary. Plain water can also be effective to clean the stains from food particles, colors etc. Whenever you find anything on the carpet, which can make the stain, you should immediately remove it, wash the area with wet washcloths and let it dry. In case of bulky messes like spilling of large amount of food or throw ups etc, you need to clean the mess first before wiping with wet cloth. Although it is messy and dirty job to clean, however if your carpets are in healthy shine, you will have much less pain to wash off the portions of the stains.
