Tips to deal with short of breath during pregnancy


With growing pregnancy, most expecting mothers face a common difficulty- short of breath. It is a normal problem and it does not harm either the mother or the unborn baby, but short of breath might cause some uneasiness to the mother. In some situation, if the problem turns worse and associates with the symptoms like cough, heartbeat, then it is always better to consult your obstetrician.
The main reason behind such problem is, as the baby starts growing, the size of the uterus also becomes bigger. This growth of uterus starts putting pressure on the diaphragm and subsequently your lungs to some extent, resulting in uneasiness. The increase in the progesterone hormone secretion during pregnancy is also a major reason of short breath. Generally, the problem of short breath dismisses with the growth of the baby, as she now moves downwards towards the pelvis area, preparing to come out.
Certain procedure might give some relief to expecting mothers from the uneasiness.
·         Rest is most important among them and pregnant women need to take it frequently. Whatever work you do, whether official or household chores, it has to be done lightly and slowly, ensuring that you do not get exhausted. Take your time to finish the work that you doing and take enough rest before you begin a new one.
·         Posture, is another important thing that you need to take care off during pregnancy in order to avoid short breath. When you sit in a straight and upright position, your diaphragm does not bump into your lungs, which is the major reason behind short breath.
·         Easy breathing techniques and certain yoga posture can help you get relief from the uneasiness. Yoga classes in the early days of pregnancy will not only help you handle short of breath but also other physical difficulties that come along as pregnancy advances.
·         If you face short of breath while sleeping, then extra pillows under the upper part of your body will surely help you tackle the problem.
